An electric tiller can be used to prepare a small garden or even refreshing the soil in your planting area. The machines are usually quiet, efficient and durable. They are also powerful enough for the small jobs. When compared to the gas-powered tillers, they are more economical to buy, easy to use and easy to maintain.
For the electric tillers, they could either be corded or cordless. Corded electric tillers. The only thing that you need here is an electrical outlet within 100 feet. Size and power of corded electrical garden tillers. They are smaller and lighter and are best recommended for use in smaller areas for the light-duty tasks. Check out for the following features when buying an electric corded electric tiller. The number of tines. Most of the models have 2, 4 or even 6 tines. Folding and carrying handles. The main purpose of these is to facilitate in transport and make the storage easier. Rotation speed. It is very important to check the maximum tine rotation speed. Those above about 180 to 200 rpm work best. Cord lock. The cord lock system will ensure that your tiller keeps going in the garden without getting accidentally unplugged. Variable speed. Some of the models have variable speed. What’s good about this is that it allows you to till more slowly for light cultivation. Wheels. The main purpose of these is to help with the movement across all types of terrains. One thing to note with the corded electric tillers is that they are not supposed to be used with heavy-duty work. They are best suited for small tasks. These include preparing garden plots. In case you want to use them for cutting up hard unbroken earth, then they are not the best option. Also, they should not be used for ploughing and heavy earth turning. Cordless electric tillers. These require the user to charge a battery. Depending with the size of land, most of the batteries can last the tilling project. They are also quiet and are very easy to maintain. They are very light and won’t provide distractions like the corded tillers since there is no electrical cable to distract you. However, they can only be used if the battery remains charged. So, if you are planning on tilling a large part of your farm, then the corded tiller is the best option. In addition, they are not as powerful as the corded tillers.
